MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Alverno College softball scored 10 runs in the day's nightcap but suffered a pair of losses to MSOE this afternoon at home. Alverno had three hits in the opening, falling 18-0. However, after an explosive start in the second game, the Inferno couldn't hold off the Raiders down the stretch, falling 17-10.
GAME 1 | Alverno 0, MSOE 18
Natalie Akin (2-9) got the ball to start for Alverno College (4-20) and took the loss. Akins pitched three innings only allowing nine hits, nine runs, three walks and two strikeouts in the 23 batters faced.
Izzy Torres finished on the mound pitching an inning only allowing five hits, nine runs, five walks and three strikeouts in the 17 batters faced.
Offensively, the Inferno was paced by
Cyd Guillaume and
Natalie Akin who went 1-for-2 on the day at the plate.
Emily Anguiano also finished going 1-for-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE started the game with adding five runs in the first two innings to take the lead. The Raiders then plated four runs to grow the lead to 9-0. In the final inning, they added nine additional runs to cruise to the 18-0 victory.

» Alverno pitchers faced 40 MSOE hitters in the game, allowing 14 hits, 18 runs, eight walks and three strikeouts.

GAME 2 | Alverno 10, MSOE 17
The Inferno put up 10 runs, but could not hold the MSOE Raiders at bay, dropping an 17-10 decision.
Maggie Wilmot (0-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Alverno College (4-21).
In the batter's box, the Inferno was paced by
Hailie Eschbach and
Giselle Moreno, who went 3-for-5 on the day.
Izzy Torres finished recording a home run, three walks and two RBIs.
Cyd Guillaume,
Andrea Ramirez and
Sam Marchant furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-4.
Natalie Akin finished going 1-for-1 at the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Raiders got the scoring started early, putting four runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Alverno answered in the bottom plating four runs.
Emily Anguiano doubled to right field to score Eschbach.
Giselle Moreno followed with a double to left field plating Anguiano.
Natalie Akin singled to left field scoring Moreno.
Sam Marchant singled to center field scoring Torres to tie the score 4 all
Alverno pushed across two runs when
Izzy Torres hit one out of the park scoring Moreno, which brought the score to 6-4 in favor of the Inferno.
MSOE cut the lead 6-5 adding one run in the top of the third inning. Both teams were led scoreless in the fourth inning. MSOE took the lead 9-6 adding four runs in the fifth inning. Alverno responded in the bottom of the inning when Eschbach singled to right field scoring Marchant.
Samantha Vinti had a sacrifice fly to right field bringing Guillaume across home plate.
The Raiders expanded their lead to 9-6 before Alverno answered with two runs to cut the lead to 9-8. MSOE then plated eight runs in the remaining two innings to take the 17-10 victory.
