Alverno Fall to Dominican Twice

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Alverno College softball suffered a pair of losses to Dominican University this afternoon. Alverno had three hits in the opening, falling 8-0. The Inferno couldn't hold off the Stars falling 9-0.

GAME 1 | Alverno 0, Dominican 8
Natalie Akin (2-10) got the ball to start for Alverno College (4-22) and took the loss. Akins pitched four innings only allowing 11 hits, eight runs, two walks and one strikeout in the 28 batters faced. 
 
Offensively, the Inferno was paced by Giselle Moreno, Natalie Akin and Andrea Ramirez who went 1-for-2 on the day at the plate. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
Dominican started the game with adding two runs in the first two innings to take the lead. The Raiders then plated three runs in the second to grow the lead to 9-0. In the remaining innings, they added one run in each inning to cruise to the 8-0 victory.

GAME NOTES
» Alverno pitchers faced 28 Dominican hitters in the game, allowing 11 hits, eight runs, two walks and one strikeout.
» Moreno, Akin and Ramirez led the Inferno at the plate, going 1-for-2.
» Dominican was led offensively by Castaneda, who went 2-for-3 with three RBIs.
» Faber-Cournane led the Stars pitching staff, throwing four scoreless innings.

The Inferno yielded a 9-0 decision to Dominican in game two.

Maggie Wilmot (0-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Alverno College (4-23).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Stars got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Dominican then added seven runs in the second to take an 8-0 lead. They then plated its final run in the seventh to take the 9-0 victory.

» Alverno pitchers faced 23 Dominican hitters in the game, allowing 12 hits, nine runs, two walks and one strikeout.
» The Inferno drew one walk from Dominican pitching.
