NAPLES, Fla. - The Alverno College softball team put up a tough fight but fell twice on the third day of action at the Gene Cusic Classic at North Collier Regional Park.
GAME ONE: Alverno 2, Swarthmore 4
In game one, the Inferno produced two runs on four hits.
Giselle Moreno finished going 2-of-3 with two RBIs.

Swarthmore took the early lead adding one run in the bottom of the second inning. Alverno answered will adding one run in the top of the fourth inning when Moreno doubled to left field scoring
Sam Marchant to bring the score 1-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, Swarthmore added three runs to edge Alverno 4-1. Â Alverno would answer in the top of the sixth inning when Moreno singled to center field scoring Marchant. Despite a hard-fought game the Inferno yielded a 4-2 decision in favor of Swarthmore.
Alverno finished the contest with four hits and two RBIs.
GAME TWO: Alverno 6, Drew 16
The Inferno put up six runs, but could not hold the Drew University at bay, dropping an 16-6 decision.
Nevaeh Cruz started and took the loss in the circle for Alverno.
In the batter's box, the Inferno were paced by Guillaume, who went 4-for-2 on the day with two runs.
Dominique Tetrault furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 4-for-2 with one RBI.
Natalie Akin also helped out for Alverno College, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drew got the scoring started early, putting four runs on the board in the top of the first inning. Alverno answered in the bottom of the first inning adding a run.
Dominique Tetruault singled to third base scoring Cydney Guillaume.
Drew then rallied to score two runs and take a 6-1 lead before the Infernos got back on the board in the second. Alverno plated four runs which brought the score to 6-5 in favor of Drew.
Drew built their lead to 9-5 before the Alverno offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 13-6 in the fifth.
The Infernos were unable to get any closer, as Drew added three runs to their tally on the way to a 16-6 final.

» Alverno pitchers faced 42 Drew hitters in the game, allowing 16 runs and two strikeouts.
» The Inferno drew five walks from Drew pitching.

» Drew was led offensively by Robinson, who went 5-for-5 with four runs and four RBIs.
» Alverno finished the contest with 10 hit while Drew collected 20 hits.
