Box Score 2 NAPLES, Fla. – The Alverno College softball team split two games on the opening day of action at the Gene Cusic Classic, Sunday, falling 15-9 to Anna Maria College before earning a 10-9 win over Clark University.
GAME 1 – ALVERNO COLLEGE 9, ANNA MARIE COLLEGE 15

GAME 2 – Alverno College 10, Clark University 9
- Natalie Akin finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI while Samantha Vinti went 2-for-2 and one RBI in the Inferno win.
- Eschbach finished 4-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
- Alverno added four runs in the top of the first inning on four hits. Clark University answered in the bottom of the first plating two runs to make the score 4-2.
- The Inferno answered in the third inning adding another run to bring the score 5-2 in favor of Alverno.
- Clark University was held scoreless the next two innings before adding five runs to take a 7-6 lead over Alverno.
- Alverno College was held scoreless in the top of the sixth inning.
- Clark University plated its final runs of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning to bring the score 9-6.
- Alverno's bats came alive in the final inning adding four runs to make the 10-9 victory.
- Alverno finished the contest with 15 hits while Clark University collected six.

Alverno College will next return to action against SUNY Potsdam (9:00 a.m.) and John Carroll (11:00 a.m.) on Monday (Mar. 6) in Naples, Florida.
