Montgomery, Ill. – After racking up six runs over the past two games, the Alverno College Softball team was held to only one run in the doubleheader losses Aurora University.
Aurora (5-8, 1-0 NACC) won game one, 4-1, then blanked Alverno (3-10, 0-1 NACC) in the nightcap, 14-0.
Alverno avoided the no-no in game one, thanks to a single up the middle from
Lexi Hess.
The Spartans of Aurora University took the early lead in the third, then added three runs in the fifth inning to grow the lead 4-0. Alverno answered in the final inning when
Lexi Hess delivered a RBI single up the middle to send home
Ashley Flores yielding a 4-1 final score.
On the mound for the Red and Black was
Natalie Akin who pitched six innings only allowing six hits, four runs, two walks and two strikeouts in the 26 batters faced.
In the nightcap,

Dominique Tetrault and
Andrea Ramirez managed to get the Inferno's lone hits.
After taking the early 3-0 advantage in the bottom of the first inning. Aurora exploded for 11 runs in the fourth thus, enforcing the eight-run mercy rule.
Izzy Torres was on the mound for Alverno in the nightcap pitching four innings only allowing 10 hits, 10 runs and four runs in the 27 batters faced.
