BELOIT, Wis. - The Alverno College softball team fought hard but yielded an (L: 4-3, L:3-2) decision to Beloit College this evening at Strong Stadium Complex.

The Red and Black got on board first in the top of the third inning with
Giselle Moreno reaching first on a fielding error by the second baseman to score Cydney Guillaume to take a 1-0 lead.
Izzy Torres then doubled to left center scoring
Natalie Akin and
Giselle Moreno to take a 3-0 lead to close of the top of the third inning. Beloit College answered in the bottom of the third inning plating a run to cut the lead to 3-1. Â Beloit would hold Alverno College scoreless for the remainder of the contest. The Beloit Bucs were able to add two runs in the final inning to cruise to a 4-3 victory.

Izzy Torres and Cydney Guillaume led Alverno going 2-for-3 at the plate. Torres also added two RBIs.

Natalie Akin was on the mound for the Inferno pitching six innings only allowing seven hits, four runs, five walks and four strikeouts in the 31 batters faced.
In the nightcap, Beloit would score first in the bottom of the third inning adding a run to take a 1-0 lead. Alverno would answer in the top of the fourth inning when Cydney Guillaume doubled to left center to score two runners to take a 2-1 lead. The home team answered in the bottom of the fourth securing two runs to hold on to the 3-2 victory

Alverno finished the contest with six hits and two RBIs.

Maggie Wilmot started on the mount for Alverno pitching three innings only allowing four hits, one run and one strikeout in the 124 batters faced.
Izzy Torres finished pitching one inning only allowing three hits, two runs, and three strikeouts in the seven batters faced.
Alverno will return home to host Mount Mary for its home season opener on Sunday, March 26
th at the Alverno Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
