NAPLES, Fla. - The Alverno College softball team (3-7) got eight hits and four runs, but big fifth and sixth innings by Grove City proved to be too much to overcome as Inferno fell in game one of the final day of the Gene Cusic Classic by a score of 6-4.

Dominique Tetrault all recorded hits on the afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Grove City got on the board first adding a run in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. They then extended the lead in the fifth inning adding two additional runs to extend the score 3-0. In the top of the sixth inning Grove City plated two more runs to advance the score 5-0.
Alverno answered the bottom of the sixth inning starting with a double to left field by

Hailie Eschbach to cut the lead 5-3. Grove City then added its final run in the top of the seventh inning. Alverno added its final run in the bottom of the final inning when
Izzy Torres crossed home plate.
Natalie Akin took the loss as she allowed six runs on five hits with four strikeouts. She also walked eight batters.
Dawson picked up the win as she allowed four runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts in the complete-game effort.

The Alverno College softball team collected its third victory of the season with a 12-4 win over SUNY Brockport at North Collier Regional Park.Â
The Inferno improved to 3-7 on the season. Senior
Izzy Torres collected her first homerun of the season in the first inning. Alverno also plated two additional runs to take a 3-0 lead
Offensively, eight Infernos produced a hit and seven drove in at least one run.
Izzy Torres went 3-for-4 with three hits including one homer and two RBIs.
Dominique Tetrault was 2-for-2 including a RBI.
Giselle Moreno finished going 2-for-4 adding three RBIs while
Hailie Eschbach went 2-for-3 adding one run.Â
SUNY Brockport moved to 1-1 on the season. O'Conner led Brockport going 1-for-1. In the circle, Angelo recorded the loss after pitching 3.2 innings, giving up 11 hits and walking two.Â
The Inferno was the first to score, taking an early 3-0 lead.

Izzy Torres hit one out of the park to record her first homerun of the season to make it an early 3-0 lead.
Alverno added two runs in the third inning to extend the lead 5-0. The Red and Black had a big fourth inning, scoring six. Alverno had three singles and walk in the fourth inning to advance the lead 11-0.
Brockport added one in the bottom of the fourth scoring on an error to cut the lead to 11-1.Â
A six-run fourth inning sealed the run-rule victory for the Inferno. Alverno added its final run in the top of the fifth inning when Tetrault scored. SUNY Brockport then answered in the bottom of the inning adding three runs to make the final score 12-4 in favor of the Inferno.

Izzy Torres had a very impressive game on the mound for Alverno pitching all inning and only allowing one hit, four runs, three walks and four strikeouts in the 22 batters faced. Torres collected a total of 30 strike in the 60 pitches thrown.
The Inferno return to action Saturday, March 25, for doubleheader action against Beloit on the road. First pitch is slated for 12 pm at Strong Stadium Complex. Â
