RIVER FOREST, Ill. - Dominican outscored Alverno College 13-8 in the final period to break open a tight game and take a 61-52 NACC Conference win over the Inferno at Igini Sports Forum.
 
The Inferno led early, holding a 16-12 advantage at the end of the first quarter, but the Stars answered with adding 21 points to take a 33-28 lead at the half. Alverno tied the game at 33-33 early in the third quarter, but the Stars built its lead outscoring Alverno in the final quarter to cruise taking a 61-52 victory.
 
Alverno College is now 2-18 overall and 0-14 in the NACC Conference. Dominican University is 3-18 and 2-12 in the NACC.
 
Morgan Whitten led Alverno scorers finishing with a double-double performance securing 14 points and 11 rebounds. Camiria Sardin also had a double-double performance with 11 points and 17 rebounds. Kyla Jamerson rounded out the double digit scoring for Alverno with 11 points.
 
Alverno outrebounded the Stars 64-42 in the game and the Inferno forced 14 turnovers in the contest.
 
Alverno finished the afternoon shotting 67.9 percednt from the free throw line. The Inferno made just three of its 19 three-point attempts.
 
Alverno will return to action on Wednesday, February 8^th when they host Wisconsin Lutheran. Tip-off is slated for 7:00 p.m. inside Reiman Gymnasium.
