MILWAUKEE, Wis.- The Inferno basketball team opened the season against the Rams of North Central University (Minn.). The Inferno got better with each quarter throughout the 40 minutes of play, but ultimately fell short with a final score of 81-37.
The young Inferno team was led by Freshman
Laila Alramahi, accumulating 14 points in 31 minutes of play in her collegiate debut. Alhamahi made eight of her 10 free throws while also collecting 3 rebounds on the night.
Following Alramahi, sophomore
Riley Spencer finished the night 2-2 from the 3-point line in her 27 minutes on the court. Spencer totaled eight points against the Rams.
With many of the Inferno players making their collegiate debut, freshman
Madalyn Kavalary (3),
Maddison Manuel (2) and sophomore
Haley Youngblood (1), all recorded their first collegiate points with the Inferno.
On the defensive end,
Haley Youngblood led the team with six rebounds while being closely followed by
Morgan Whitten with 5. The Inferno defense scored five points off of a total of 10 turnovers as a team.
Alverno looks to continue non-conference play as the team takes on the Yellow-Jackets of UW-Superior on Saturday, November 18th with a 2pm CST tip off.
