MILWAUKEE – The Alverno basketball team hosted the Concordia Wisconsin Falcons on Wednesday evening inside the Reiman Gymnasium, falling to the visiting Falcons by a 67-42 score in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contest.

Alverno was led by freshman
Camiria Sardin with 10 points, while three freshman had seven points apiece including
Kyla Jamerson,
Mariah Smith and
Morgan Whitten. Freshman
Riley Spencer had five points, while junior
Mya Roberts, and sophomores
Morgan Golabowski and
Jewel Zahradka had two points apiece.

Sardin was two rebounds shy of a double-double with eight boards and also added one block on the night. Whitten corralled seven rebounds and had an assist, while Jamerson, Roberts, Spencer and Zahradka each had three boards.

Kelia Bolds each had one block on the night. Golabowski led the Inferno with two steals, while Roberts and freshman
Olivia Daugherty each had two assists.

The Falcons jumped out to a quick 6-0 lead before Spencer got the Inferno on the board with a layup. Concordia regained a six-point lead but Alverno trimmed the deficit to two after Sardin and Zahradka each had layups. Concordia's lead swelled to 10 late in the period as the Falcons led 21-11 into the second quarter.

After Concordia opened the second quarter with a jumper, the Inferno got the lead back down 10 on two occasions but the Falcons led by a 35-19 score at the halftime break.

After the Falcons scored the first basket of the second half, the Inferno had a three-pointer by Spencer followed by a jumper from Whitten to get the home team back within 13, the Falcons responded with seven points to close the quarter and led by a 49-28 score heading into the final period.

Concordia closed out the game by outscoring Alverno, 18-14 to come away with the 67-42 victory.

Alverno (2-11, 0-7 NACC) will be back in action on Saturday evening, when the Inferno play host to the Edgewood Eagles at 7 p.m. inside Reiman Gymnasium.
