KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Alverno Soccer team closed out their two-game trip to New York on Saturday, taking on first-time foe U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Mariners at Brooks Stadium, falling to its host by a 9-0 score.

The Inferno put together their best-half of the season, building off of its initial three periods as the Inferno held the Mariners to just two goals in the second half while playing a stout defense.

Freshman Emily Anguiano re-set her new season high with 17 saves on the match, as she played the entirety of the match.

Freshman Madison Wise played 76 minutes in her collegiate debut, while seven other Inferno were credited with playing 90 minutes for the Inferno.

Alverno (0-2-0) will look to build off the strong second half against the Mariners, when the team returns to Milwaukee for its final non-conference tilt of the season against Mount Mary on Sunday, September 11 at 12 p.m.
