KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Alverno Soccer team closed out their two-game trip to New York on Saturday, taking on first-time foe U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Mariners at Brooks Stadium, falling to its host by a 9-0 score.

The Inferno put together their best-half of the season, building off of its initial three periods as the Inferno held the Mariners to just two goals in the second half while playing a stout defense.

Madison Wise played 76 minutes in her collegiate debut, while seven other Inferno were credited with playing 90 minutes for the Inferno.

Alverno (0-2-0) will look to build off the strong second half against the Mariners, when the team returns to Milwaukee for its final non-conference tilt of the season against Mount Mary on Sunday, September 11 at 12 p.m.
