FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Alverno softball team took its final trip outside of Milwaukee County on Saturday to take on the Marian Sabres on Smith Field. The Sabres won the opener by an 11-2 score, and the second game by a 10-0 margin.

Freshman
Cora Younk drove in both runs in the opening contest, as she connected on a two-run single in the top of the fourth inning to score senior
Natalie Akin and junior
Izzy Torres. Six Inferno had hits in the opener as Younk, Akin and Torres singled in the fourth. Sophomore
Lexi Hess had the team's lone extra-base hit in the game with a double, while sophomore
Lily Kostka and freshman
Samantha Vinti each had singles.

Offensively in the second game, Hess added two more singles as did Torres. Akin also singled in the contest.

In the circle Akin tossed a 114-pitch complete game as she yielded just three earned runs and struck out three batters over four innings of work. Torres tossed four innings on 128 pitches and struck out five batters while allowing five earned through the outing.

Alverno (0-16, 0-12 NACC) will be back home for its next three series, when the Inferno begin with Concordia Chicago on Monday, April 18 before hosting Benedictine a day later. The Inferno host non-conference Mount Mary on Thursday, April 21; all three contests will take place at 3 p.m. on the Alverno Softball Field.
