MILWAUKEE – The Alverno basketball team played host to the Lakeland Muskies on Wednesday evening inside the Reiman Gymnasium in a NACC contest, and fell to the visiting Muskies by a 62-35 score.

Freshman
Camiria Sardin led the team with 15 rebounds, two steals and eight points on the scoresheet. Junior
Mya Roberts and freshman
Morgan Whitten each had seven points apiece with Roberts recording one steal and Whitten picking up one assist.

Sophomore
Jewel Zahradka crashed the glass for a season-high 10 rebounds and added a three-pointer. Freshman
Tyee Rhodes had five points, while freshman
Riley Spencer had one bucket for two points. Classmate
Mariah Smith had three points and a steal with a team-high two assists. Junior
Victoria Parra had one block and two rebounds.

Lakeland opened the scoring with a layup but Roberts connected on a three-pointer to put the Inferno ahead by one early. The Muskies scored the next nine points to take an 11-3 lead, and led after the opening quarter by an 18-7 margin.

The Muskies took the second quarter by a 14-9 margin, and held the 32-16 lead into the halftime break.

After the half, Lakeland scored the opening five points before Sardin broke the streak with a free throw. The Muskies took a 22-point lead after the third quarter before adding 14 more points in the fourth quarter to run away late with the game at 62-35.

Alverno (1-6, 0-3 NACC) will be on the road this Saturday to take on the Edgewood Eagles for its final NACC matchup of 2022 before a pair of non-conference contests close out the calendar year.
