RIVER FOREST, Ill. – The Alverno soccer team battled the elements and the Concordia Chicago Cougars on Wednesday afternoon as the Inferno played at Concordia Stadium, falling to its host by a 7-0 decision.

For the second consecutive contest, junior
Georgia Wise played in goal and stopped 14 shots sent her way while yielding the seven Cougar tallies.

Concordia Chicago scored in the third minute of play before adding a second goal in the 10th minute. After halftime, the Cougars potted five more goals as the team capped off the scoring in the 67th minute.
In addition to Wise, seven other Inferno played the full contest including seniors
Alo Cervantes,
Ashley Flores,
Katie Shipley, along with freshmen
Ashley Gutierrez-Diaz,
Ashley Ibarra,
Lilly Coronado, and
Haley Youngblood.

Alverno (0-11-1) will return to play on Saturday morning, when the team visits Lakeland for an 11 a.m. start against the Muskies on Taylor Field.
