Box Score MILWAUKEE – The Alverno basketball team continued its homestand on Saturday evening, hosting the Benedictine Eagles inside Reiman Gymnasium. The Inferno were unable to come back from an early deficit, falling to the Eagles by a 74-33 score.

Junior
Angie Reutgen led all scorers on the game with 15 points, finishing the contest with a double-double as she secured 11 rebounds. Sophomore
Kiara Ellison was second on the team in scoring with six points, while sophomore
Courtney Zarda and freshman
Jewel Zahradka each had four points apiece.

Rounding out the scoring for the Inferno were senior
Dom Hudson and freshman
Morgan Golabowski, who each had one field goal for two points apiece. Alverno had just three assists on the game, with those coming from Zarda, Golabowski and Zahradka, while Zahradka was also second on the team with five rebounds on the night.

Golabowski led the defensive effort with three steals and two blocks, while Zarda also collected two blocks on the game.

The Eagles jumped out to a nine-point lead to start the game, and outscored the Inferno 25-7 in the first quarter. Benedictine led 45-15 at the halftime break, before adding to its lead in the third quarter to take a 63-20 lead into the final period.

In the final stanza, the Inferno held a point advantage outscoring Benedictine by a 13-11 margin. Ellison opened the scoring, followed by a jumper by Reutgen. After three free throws by the Eagles, Reutgen connected on another jumper followed by a Benedictine layup. Zarda connected on a three pointer, answered by a Benedictine basket, before Reutgen added another two-pointer. The Eagles added two more points before Ellison added a jumper in the closing seconds to cap off the scoring in the period.

Alverno (1-13, 0-7 NACC) returns to play on Tuesday evening, when the Inferno play host to the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors for a 7 p.m. start inside Reiman Gymnasium.
