Box Score LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Alverno volleyball team was back on the road on Tuesday evening, visiting the Lake Forest Foresters just north of Chicago. The Inferno fell to the host Foresters in four sets, after sneaking in a third-set win from the home team.

Alverno was led freshman
Rolin West, who tallied 13 kills on the match on 41 swings, while sophomore
Skylar Kumprey connected on a dozen kills on 30 swings. West also led the team with 14 digs, while senior
Alex McMath led the team with 33 assists on the night.

Sophomore
Jenna Flayter connected on eight kills and also had one block, while West added a pair of blocks. Sophomore
Selena Upshur had four kills and added a block of her own. Upshur along with freshman
Izzy Gianniou had nine digs, in a tie for second on the night.

McMath also led the team with five aces, as Flayter was second on the team with a pair of well-placed serves.

Alverno fell behind early in the first two sets and were unable to recover, dropping the opener by a 25-15 margin before falling 25-13 in the second set.

In the third set, the Inferno stormed back to pick up a set win by a 25-18 margin, looking to fight their way back into the match. However, it was ultimately Lake Forest to pick up the fourth set win at 26-24 to earn the match victory.

As a team, Alverno hit .140 on the night, while combining for 38 kills, on as many assists with nine aces, 52 digs, and three blocks.

Alverno (1-3, 0-0 NACC) is scheduled to get back to play this weekend at the North Central (Ill.), which begins on Friday evening against host North Central at 3:00 p.m.
