MILWAUKEE – The Alverno soccer team played host to the Marian Sabres on a brisk Friday afternoon, following the postponement of the game from earlier this month that was stopped due to lightning. The visiting Sabres scored three times in each half for a 6-0 victory.

Alverno was led by freshman goalkeeper
Kiersten Weber, who made 15 saves following her 16-save performance during Wednesday evening's match against MSOE.

The Inferno were able to muster four shots on the match with three coming on target. Junior
Shaye Wolfe tallied two shots with one on frame, while junior
Rikki Nelson and sophomore
Kenzie Bermudez each had one shot on goal.

Marian scored in the seventh minute to open the scoring before the Sabres added goals in the 13th and 34th minutes to take a three-goal lead into the break. The Sabres added three more with strikes in the 48th, 54th and 64th minutes to cap off the scoring at six.

The Sabres led in corner kicks at a 9-0 margin, while taking 33 shots to Alverno's four. In terms of shots on goal, Marian put 21 shots on frame to Alverno's three.

Alverno (0-7-0, 0-7-0 NACC North) will wrap up the spring season on Sunday afternoon, when the team hosts the Edgewood Eagles at 1 p.m. on the Alverno Soccer Field.
