VERONA, Wis. – The Alverno soccer team returned to play on Wednesday afternoon, visiting the Edgewood Eagles in suburban Madison at the Reddan Soccer Park. The Eagles won the match by a 5-0 margin.

Defensively, sophomore goalkeeper made a season-high 16 saves, while the Inferno defensive unit was credited with two saves on the match.

Alverno's offense was only able to muster six shots, with two coming on frame. Freshman Sofia McLaughlin led the Inferno with three shots and two on target, while junior Verania Ortiz had two shots, while junior Shaye Wolfe tallied one shot that was off target.

As a team, Alverno had one corner kick on the afternoon, with that coming in the opening half.

Today's match also marked the collegiate debuts of both freshmen Margarita Navarro and Kiersten Weber, while Rikki Nelson made her season debut for the Inferno.

Edgewood broke onto the scoreboard first with a tally at the 12:37 mark, and later added a second first-half goal at 41:44. The two goal lead was what the Eagles had taken into the intermission.
