MEQUON, Wis. – The Alverno basketball team made-up a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup on Tuesday evening at the R. John Buuck Fieldhouse against the Concordia Falcons, falling by the score of 70-24.

Alverno was led by sophomore
Keeshya Bellows with 12 points as she connected on six shots, while also corralling nine rebounds and one assist on the night. Senior
Mikayla Tessay was second on the team with four points, while senior
Dom Hudson and freshman
Courtney Zarda each had three points apiece. Freshman
Vorian Wilcox rounded out the scoring with one bucket on the evening.

Angie Reutgen each had two assists apiece to lead the team. Junior
Kay Cooper added three rebounds, while freshman
Alayna Smith tallied two boards.

Concordia notched the first basket of the night before Bellows answered with a layup off a feed from Reutgen. The Falcons added the next 14 points to open up a 16-2 advantage before Hudson ended the run with a free throw. The Inferno trailed 22-5 at the end of the opening quarter as Tessay drained a jumper with 17 seconds left in the opening period.

The Falcons continued to add to its lead and took its largest lead of the half at 24 points with a three-pointer with under two minutes to go in the half. Zarda answered with a quick-trigger three-pointer on the next possession as Alverno trailed at the break by a 35-14 margin.

In the second half, the Falcons opened up on an 8-0 run before Bellows connected on a layup to trim the deficit to 28. Concordia's lead swelled to 37 before a last-possession layup put the Falcons up by a 57-18 score at the end of three quarters.

Alverno scored on back-to-back possessions early in the fourth quarter as Bellows made a jumper and a layup, but the Falcon offense continued to forge forward as Concordia extended its lead to 46 late in the contest to pick up the 70-24 win.

Alverno (0-6, 0-6 NACC) will be back in action this weekend, when the Inferno travel to local foe Wisconsin Lutheran for a 7 p.m. start from the Recreation Complex in Wauwatosa this Friday. Only two spectators per student-athlete are permitted, while masks will be required by all those in attendance on the Wisconsin Lutheran campus.
