MILWAUKEE – The Alverno basketball team closed out its two-game set with the MSOE Raiders on Saturday evening inside the Reiman Gymnasium. Alverno was held to just 25 points on the night, while MSOE picked up the win with 63 points.

Vorian Wilcox led the Inferno in scoring with eight points on the evening, with half of those points coming from the free-throw line. Wilcox finished the night second on the team with six rebounds, while the team lead was held by sophomore
Keeshya Bellows, who ended the night with nine boards and five points, while also chipping in with a block and a steal.

Angie Reutgen scored five points and was tied with senior
Dom Hudson for the team lead with two steals apiece. Hudson had four points and added as many rebounds on the contest. Freshman
Alayna Smith got her first career start on the young season and played 16 minutes while registering a pair of rebounds.

Courtney Zarda played 29 minutes off the bench and knocked down Alverno's lone three-pointer of the evening, while also chipping in with one steal and one assist. Senior
Mikayla Tessay grabbed three rebounds, while junior Mozeya Jones and freshman
Kiara Ellison each picked up one rebound apiece. Junior Mikayla Cooper saw time on the night as well.

MSOE jumped out to another quick start, which was thwarted on a Hudson layup to trim the early deficit to 7-2. MSOE took a 20-2 lead into the second quarter, where Wilcox got the scoring started with a pair from the line. Later in the quarter, Bellows drained a jumper as Alverno headed into the break down by a 35-9 score.

The Raiders extended their lead to as many as 36 in the third quarter, before swelling to 39 in the early fourth quarter. Bellows sank a layup off a feed from Hudson, before Hudson connected on her own layup. The Inferno were able to penetrate the MSOE defense later in the contest and scored 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Raiders won 63-25.

Alverno (0-5, 0-5 NACC) will make-up their game from January 30, this Tuesday, when the Inferno make their way back to Mequon, Wisconsin for a matchup against the Concordia Falcons at 7 p.m.
