ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The  Alverno basketball team wrapped up its 2021 calendar season of games, as well as its two-game Florida stay by taking on Berry at the McArthur Center on the Eckerd College campus. It was the Vikings of Berry to pick up the 59-20 victory over the Inferno.

Freshman Lauryn Hilliard led the Inferno as she tied a season-high with 14 points, shooting 4-of-11 from the field and corralling five rebounds in the effort. Classmate Jewel Zahradka was second on the team with five points, as she also picked up five boards on the afternoon.

Freshman Morgan Golabowski led Alverno with both three blocks and two steals as she registered four points along with two assists and two rebounds on the game. Senior Dom Hudson led the Inferno with seven rebounds, as she connected on one field goal for two points. Sophomore Kiara Ellison rounded out the scoring for the Inferno with one bucket.

Junior Angie Reutgen had four rebounds and was tied for the team lead in assists with two, while sophomore Courtney Zarda recorded one rebound and one assist. Sophomore Sofia Jorgensen picked up two defensive rebounds.

After a sluggish first quarter for the Inferno that saw Alverno trail 13-2 after the opening 10 minutes, the Inferno hung with the Vikings in the second period as Berry outscored Alverno by just two at 17-15.
