ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Alverno basketball team took on the Lake Forest Foresters on Sunday morning as part of the St. Pete Classic hosted by Eckerd College. The Foresters won the contest at the McArthur Center by the score of 77-35.

Alverno was led by junior
Angie Reutgen with eight points, as sophomore
Courtney Zarda and freshman
Jewel Zahradka picked up seven points apiece. Freshman
Lauryn Hilliard had six points, while leading the team with six rebounds.

Morgan Golabowski collected three points in the effort, while seniors
Dom Hudson and
Mikayla Tessay each had a bucket. Hudson and Golabowski each had two steals on the game to lead the Inferno, while Hilliard led Alverno with three assists. Golabowski had the lone block on the game for Alverno.

The Inferno fell behind early and were unable to overcome a halftime deficit of 45-16. The Foresters tallied another 32 points in the second half to the 19 for the Inferno as the Foresters ran away late with the victory.

Alverno (1-9) will take on Berry tomorrow afternoon at 5 p.m. (EST)/4 p.m. (CST) looking to split its two-game set in the Sunshine State. Lake Forest (3-5) takes on Washington and Lee tomorrow. Berry (5-4) takes on York (Pa.) this afternoon, before taking on the Inferno tomorrow.
