MILWAUKEE – The Alverno soccer team took on the Lakeland Muskies on Saturday afternoon on the Alverno Soccer Field. The Muskies won the match by a 4-0 score.

Alverno was able to muster seven shots offensively, with three of those shots coming on goal. Senior
Shaye Wolfe had two shots on goal, while classmate
Angela Chobanian also had a chance on frame. Wolfe along with juniors
Ashley Flores and
Katie Shipley, along with freshman
Muriah Alejandrino also had shots that were off target.

In goal, junior goalkeeper
Kenzie Bermudez had 12 saves for the Inferno, while yielding the four Muskie tallies.

Lakeland started the game with the ball in their favor, and took an array of shots. The Muskies broke through with a goal in the 32nd minute, as a ball was passed around the 18-yard box, before being driven into the back of the net.

Just minutes later, Lakeland scored again to take a two-goal lead, which held until the second period. Lakeland held a 16-2 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes.

In the second half, the Muskies scored again off of a free kick on a looping shot to take a three-goal lead, before capping off the scoring in the 74th minute off of a header from a free kick near the corner to put the Muskies ahead by a four-goal difference.

The Inferno added five shots in the second period, but Lakeland added 14 to give the Muskies a match total of 30-7. Corner kicks were even at six apiece, while fouls were fairly even as well at 10-9, with Lakeland committing one extra call.

Alverno (2-6-0, 0-10-0 NACC) will be back in action tomorrow afternoon, when the Inferno take on the Mount Mary Blue Angels for a 2 p.m. start on the Alverno Soccer Field.
