MILWAUKEE – The Alverno soccer team hosted the Concordia Chicago Cougars on a rainy afternoon on the Alverno Soccer Field. The Cougars won the match by a 3-0 score.

Kenzie Bermudez made 14 saves for the Inferno while yielding the three Cougar markers, while senior
Shaye Wolfe logged the lone shot of the game for the Inferno.

All 13 of the players dressed for the Inferno played at least 29 minutes on the field, with Bermudez, senior

Katie Shipley, along with freshman
Muriah Alejandrino leading the way as they played the full time.

Concordia Chicago netted the first goal of the game in the 12th minute on a feed into the box from the right wing, the ball was slipped past Bermudez as the Cougars took the early 1-0 lead. Just moments later, the Cougars had connected on another goal, but the play was called offside, as the Inferno still trailed by a one-goal margin.

Alverno was able to hold the Cougars through the remainder of the opening half, as Concordia Chicago led the shot differential at 14-1 at the halftime break.

The Cougars put up their second goal of the game on a shot from distance as the Concordia Chicago shooter put the ball on goal from atop the 18-yard box that slipped in past Bermudez to make the score 2-0.

A foul in the 62nd minute granted the Cougars a penalty kick, which was converted as Concordia Chicago took a three-goal lead, which proved to be the final score.

Alverno (2-5-0, 0-9-0 NACC) will return to action at home on Saturday, when the Inferno host the Lakeland Muskies for a 1 p.m. start on the Alverno Soccer Field.
