Soccer Falls to Edgewood on Rainy Wednesday Evening

MADISON, Wis. – The Alverno soccer team visited the Edgewood Eagles on Wednesday evening for a conference matchup on Breese Stevens Field. Alverno held Edgewood to two goals in the opening half, before allowing three more in the second half as the Inferno fell by a 5-0 margin.

Alverno tallied a pair of shots on the game as sophomore Ziri Hernandez-Bustos took the team's lone shot on goal, while freshman Katie Shipley also recorded a shot on the match.

In goal, freshman netminder Kenzie Bermudez made a dozen saves as she allowed five goals against the Eagles while playing the full 90-minute contest.

Edgewood scored the opening goal of the match in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead before the Eagles were awarded a second goal late in the half, which was credited as an own goal against the Inferno. Edgewood added goals in the 63rd, 84th, and 90th minutes to close out the scoring on the match.

Alverno (4-11, 0-8 NACC) will be back home on Friday afternoon, as the team plays host to the MSOE Raiders in a make-up game from earlier this month. The match is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. on the Alverno Soccer Field.
