MILWAUKEE – On Saturday, the Alverno soccer team welcomed the Marian Sabres to the Alverno Soccer Field for a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup, ultimately won by Marian by a 6-0 score.
Alverno was able to take a pair of shots in the loss as the Inferno shots were taken in a 39-second span by sophomore Shaye Wolfe on a free kick, while freshman Andy Lopez tallied a shot shortly after that was off the mark.
In goal, freshman Kenzie Bermudez faced 22 shots her way, while she stopped 16 of those. The team was also credited with a save as an Inferno defender was the last line of defense against a Sabre shot.
Marian scored in the eighth minute of the match to open the scoring, before adding a goal later in the period at the 43:25 mark to take a 2-0 advantage into the halftime break. The Sabres connected on four more goals in the second half, including three-straight unassisted tallies to close out the scoring at 6-0.
Alverno (4-10-0, 0-7-0 NACC) will next travel to Edgewood on Wednesday evening for a 7 p.m. start against the Eagles on Breese Stevens Field.
