CUC Spoils Alverno's Homecoming

MILWAUKEE -- Visiting Concordia University Chicago defeated Alverno College, 3-0, and spoiled the Inferno's Homecoming match Saturday afternoon inside Reiman Gymnasium.

Despite the sweep, all three sets were tightly contested, but the Cougars (3-17, 2-3 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) came out on top 25-20, 25-23 and 27-25.

Alverno (3-20, 1-5 NACC) trailed the entire opening frame, but led by as many as four in the second and held a five-point lead in the third.

CUC used a .250 attack percentage and six team blocks to earn the victory. The Inferno hit just .079 in the three-setter.

Cailey Jeske led the way with 10 kills, and a tied her career-best six service aces for Alverno. Sam Korn had a team-high 21 assists while Alyssa Reinke led the hosts with 13 digs.

The Inferno looks to snap its current six-match skid Friday night when it hosts Milwaukee School of Engineering at 7 p.m.
