WATERTOWN, Wisconsin -- Visiting Alverno College dropped a nonconference match to Maranatha Baptist University, 3-0, Tuesday evening.

The host Sabercats (13-4) used a balanced attack to defeat the Inferno (3-19) by scores of 25-14, 25-21 and 25-16.

Alverno managed a positive hitting percentage in just one set, the closely contested second set, where the visitors tallied 10 kills for a .111 percentage.

Jessica Wewers led the Inferno with seven kills while Sam Korn had a team-high 13 assists.

Defensively, Wewers, Bailey Buffington and Katie Pavlic had two blocks apiece.

After tonight's non-league match, Alverno has just Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference contests the remainder of the season beginning with a home match versus Concordia University Chicago Saturday at 1 p.m.
