AURORA, Ill. -- Alverno College's two-match win streak was snapped by host Aurora University Wednesday evening in Thornton Gymnasium.

The Spartans (8-6, 2-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) defeated the Inferno (4-9, 0-3 NACC) in three sets, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19.

Melissa Weyand registered a double-double for Alverno -- her third in the last four matches -- with team highs of 10 kills and 11 digs, while Meranda Masse tallied 22 assists.

Aurora hit .233 in the match compared to the Inferno's .050, and served up six aces to just one Alverno ace.

Next action for the Inferno is four matches at the Finlandia Invitational Tournament this Friday and Saturday. The first match of the two-day tournament is against the host Lions at 3 p.m. ET.
