Box Score MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College closed out its 2015 season with a game that had a three day delay. The host Inferno and visiting Aurora University completed the second game of the season series Monday evening at Alverno Field after rain and hail halted the game during the bottom of the fifth inning Friday.
Per NCAA rule, a game must have five full innings completed before it becomes an official completed contest.
The Spartans (31-5, 22-0 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) took Friday's opener, 3-0, in a pitchers' duel that had just five combined hits between the teams.
But in game two, Aurora got the bats going and pounded out 15 hits for a 13-0 victory over the host Inferno (20-20, 9-13 NACC).
Four Alverno errors accounted for 10 of the Spartans' runs to be unearned. The four miscues tied for the most the Inferno committed this season, also done back on April 2 in the nightcap against Dominican. It was uncharacteristic of the team the set the school record for fielding percentage this season with a .958 mark, second best in the NACC behind the Spartans' .970.
The Inferno offense had just two hits -- one each from Alexis Botsford and Mary Kate Sulikowski -- but also drew five walks in the contest, including a pair by Ashlie Rossi.
Alverno ends the season with a .500 record for the second time in school history, and the 20 wins were a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 18 set in the 2013 season.
