ROCKFORD, Ill. -- Visiting Alverno College split a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference doubleheader with host Rockford University Sunday and earned the program's first 20-win season in school history.

The Inferno (20-16, 9-9 NACC) lost the opener 5-2 to give the Regents (5-17, 1-17) their first conference victory of the season, but bounced back and won the nightcap 9-2.

Alverno scored a pair of runs to open the day in the first inning of the opener on RBI-hits by Kristin Holub and Megan Rossi, but wouldn't score again the rest of the game.

The Regents took advantage of three Inferno errors and tagged starting pitcher Erin Dulek for five runs, four unearned, over 4.1 innings.

Dulek had three strikeouts in the loss and surpassed 400 career strikeouts, becoming just the eighth player in NACC history to register 400 Ks.

Despite trailing 2-1 entering the sixth in game two, the Inferno rallied with a pair of runs in the sixth and six runs in the seventh to earn the victory.

Holub led the team with four RBIs on a pair of hits, Alexis Botsford knocked in two, while Ashlie Rossi was 3-for-5 with the other RBI.

Dulek (9-10) earned the win after 2.1 innings of relief of Olivia Schneider who when 4.2 innings in the start.

Alverno closes out the season with a pair of home doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
