Box Score 2 PLYMOUTH, Wis. -- For just the second time this season, Alverno College was swept in a two-game series, dropping a twin bill to host Lakeland College, 6-3 and 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Muskies (8-18, 3-9 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) struck first in the opener, scoring three runs over the first two innings on four hits and a pair of Inferno (16-10, 6-6 NACC) errors.
Alverno evened the score in the third after Kristin Holub's triple scored Alexis Botsford and Stephanie Skibba, followed by an Ashlie Rossi sacrifice fly the next at bat.
After a scoreless fourth, the Muskies went ahead with a three-run fifth, while the Inferno managed just two hits the rest of the contest.
Erin Dulek (7-5) was tagged for the loss in 4.2 innings of work, while Lakeland's Savannah Stenlund (3-9) earned the complete-game win.
The Muskies scored runs in the first, second and fourth innings in the nightcap on six hits, while the Inferno connected for just two base hits and committed three defensive miscues.
Lakeland's Jasmine Suarez (1-0) earned her first win of the season in seven full innings, while Olivia Schneider (8-4) was marked for the complete-game loss.
Alverno looks to bounce back from the losses as it continues its eight-game road swing Sunday at Marian University.
