Box Score 2 WATERTOWN, Wis. -- Solid performances in both the batter's box and the pitcher's circle led to a pair of shutout victories for Alverno College over host Maranatha Baptist University Tuesday evening in nonconference action.
The Inferno (12-6) defeated the host Sabercats (1-6) by scores of 22-0 and 24-0. Both games ended after just five innings of play due to the run rule.
The Alverno offense pounded out 30 hits in the twin bill -- which included six doubles and a pair of home runs -- and stole 13 bases on as many attempts.
Ashlie Rossi was a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate with a double, a home run and 10 RBIs. Megan Rossi also tallied six hits with a pair of doubles, a home run and a team-high 11 runs batted in for the series.
Mary Kate Sulikowski and Alexis Botsford added four hits apiece, while Botsford swiped six bases and Kristin Holub followed with five steals.
Both Inferno pitchers recorded five strikeouts in their respective games, and scattered six hits over the doubleheader. Erin Dulek (5-3) picked up her third shutout of the season in game one, while Olivia Schneider (6-2) earned her second in the nightcap.
Defensively, the Inferno was errorless in 39 chances.
The games marked the 14th and 15th times Alverno has scored at least 20 runs in a game.
Up next for Alverno is a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference series with Dominican University Thursday at 12 p.m. at Alverno Field.
