MILWAUKEE -- Jessica Wewers tallied five blocks in Friday night's match against visiting Edgewood College and became Alverno College's career blocks leader with her third of the evening.

The sophomore middle blocker from Beach Park, Illinois, surpassed former record holder Katherine Lemke who had 111 career blocks in her four-year career which finished in the 2007 season.

Unfortunately the host Inferno (6-13, 0-4 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) dropped the match 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-15) to the Eagles (10-8, 4-0 NACC).

Edgewood outhit Alverno .167 to -.035 on the night with 35 kills to 18.

Melissa Weyand had a match-high nine kills, while Danielle Schilawski led the Inferno defense with 12 digs.

A short turnaround until Alverno's next match, an 11 a.m. meeting with visiting Lakeland College Saturday.
