MILWAUKEE -- The Inferno tallied just three hits in a doubleheader at host Milwaukee School of Engineering as Alverno College lost the games 1-0 and 5-0.

In the opener the Raiders (13-9, 5-5 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the third. Three consecutive base hits did the damage off hurler Erin Dulek (4-10) who had five strikeouts in the one-run loss.

Kristin Holub's leadoff single in the top of the fifth was the Inferno's only hit of the opener. Holub also reached base on a Raider error in the seventh, while Alexis Botsford led off the game with a walk for the only other base runner the visitors had.

The Raiders' Sara McConnell (8-3) struck out seven batters in the complete-game victory.

In the nightcap, the Raiders scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the first, added two more runs in the third and tacked a final score on in the fifth.

Emily Ortner and Sam Kasprzak recorded the only Inferno hits in the game, while Bre Hart and Kasprzak both reached base in the top of the second on a walk and hit by pitch. Botsford was also hit by pitch in consecutive plate appearances, but was unable to be sent home as the Inferno left six on base.

Megan Rossi (2-6) picked up the loss for Alverno, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits in 2.2 innings pitched, while Shannon Curtis (3-5) earned the complete-game victory for the Raiders with six strikeouts.

Alverno falls to 6-17 overall, 1-9 in NACC play after being swept in back-to-back road series.

The Inferno will host a pair of twin bills this weekend versus Lakeland College on Saturday and Marian University on Sunday. Both series will begin at 12 p.m. at Alverno Field.
