MILWAUKEE -- Marian University hurler Charise Waltz pitched a pair of gems and shut out Alverno College in both games of a doubleheader, 3-0 and 6-0, on Sunday afternoon at Alverno Field.

The Inferno (5-9, 2-4 Northern Athletics Conference) managed just seven hits on the day and had only nine runners reach base in the pair of conference games against the visiting Sabres (8-10, 3-1 NAC).

Alverno right-hander Erin Dulek (Rosholt, Wis.) pitched a solid game of her own in game one, but picked up the loss as the Inferno offense went anemic. Dulek (2-7) scattered seven hits and three runs (two unearned) as she went the distance and struck out three. It was her sixth complete game of her rookie season.

Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) went 2-for-3 in the game and had half of the Inferno's hits.

The Inferno threatened in the bottom of the first and third with a pair of runners on in each inning, but was unable to send anyone home for a score.

All Marian needed in the nightcap was a first-inning home run as Waltz (6-7) held the Inferno to just three hits in her 11th complete game of the season. The Sabres added a run in the fourth and then added four in the sixth, which chased Alverno starter Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) before she could record an out in the inning.

The junior lefty allowed six runs, but just three earned, on six hits which evened out her record to 2-2 in the circle. Villalobos was the lone Alverno player to hit successfully in both games for her fifth-straight game with a hit.

Wilmore snapped her 12-game hitting streak with a 0-for-3 performance in game two, the longest streak of her 3-year career.

Alverno hosts North Central University (Minn.) in a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday at Alverno Field. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
