MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College went scoreless for 10 innings in a doubleheader to visiting Lakeland College, but exploded for five runs in the bottom of the sixth for a 5-4 game-two victory, which produced a split after the Inferno lost game one 9-1.

The Inferno (9-25, 6-14 Northern Athletics Conference) tagged the Muskie pitchers for eight hits in the five-run sixth, as sophomore catcher Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) led off the inning with a single down the left-field line for one of her five hits on the day.

After five straight hits, the visiting pitching staff finally retired two Inferno batters, but surrendered the tying run. Lefty Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) then singled to the opposite field sending home Erika Wotnoske (Greenfield, Wis.) for the go-ahead score.

Rookie right-hander Emily Snell (Denmark, Wis.) retired the Muskies (10-22, 10-8 NAC) in order to earn the complete game victory from the circle for her third win of the season. Snell (3-6) surrendered the four runs on just six hits as she struck out four and walked four.

In the opening-game loss, the Inferno took a 1-0 lead after the first on a Wilmore RBI-single through the left side, but managed just three hits the rest of the game as the visitors scored nine runs on 11 hits. Villalobos (5-12) picked up the loss for the Inferno, but fanned five Muskie batters and walked just one.

Wilmore batted 2-for-3 in game one and 5-for-7 on the day, while Wotnoske and Ashleigh Sagat (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) both recorded two hits in the nightcap.

Alverno finishes out conference play this weekend with doubleheaders at Edgewood on Friday and at Marian on Sunday. The Inferno then close out the regular season on Tuesday as they host Mt. Mary in a recently added nonconference doubleheader at Alverno Field.
