Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College was swept by the visiting Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons in a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader today at Alverno Field. CUW took game one 8-2 and game two 21-3 (5 innings).
In the opening game the Inferno (6-22, 3-11 NAC) led 2-0 after the first inning, but the Falcons (29-7, 10-2 NAC) scored eight runs over the final five innings -- including four in the top of the seventh -- for the victory.
Ashleigh Sagat (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) hit 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Inferno, who were outhit 15-6, while right-hander Stephanie Klees (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) picked up the loss (1-5) after pitching 4 1/3 innings as she allowed three runs and five hits.
In game two the Falcons scored four, seven and seven runs in the opening-three innings for an 18-0 lead. The Inferno would get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning as Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) led off the inning with a single down the right-field line. Sagat and Bre Hart (Racine, Wis./Park) would each record an RBI in the three-run inning, but Alverno wasn't able to put much of a dent in the large deficit.
Rookie right-hander Emily Snell (Denmark, Wis.) picked up the loss for the Inferno as she allowed 12 runs (9 earned) in four innings of work.
The Inferno get back to action on Saturday, taking on host MSOE in a NAC doubleheader at noon.
