Inferno wraps up nonconference play with loss

MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College completed its nonconference portion of the schedule today and was swept by visiting Carroll University by scores of 7-0 and 10-2 at Alverno Field.

The Inferno batters connected for 10 hits, but left a total of 11 runners on base in the doubleheader and managed to only put two runs across home plate in game two.

Freshmen Ashleigh Sagat (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) and Erika Wotnoske (Greenfield, Wis.) each hit 2-for-2 in the nightcap to lead the Inferno offense. Wotnoske and Kellee Laske (Milwaukee/Pius) both recorded an RBI for the Inferno (5-17 overall).

The Inferno pitching staff gave up four home runs to the visiting Pioneers (8-14) over the two games. Stephanie Klees (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) went six innings and gave up five runs (3 earned) in the game one loss, while Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) gave up seven (6 earned) in four innings pitched in the game two loss.

Alverno completes its 10-game home stand this Saturday hosting Concordia University Wisconsin in a Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader at noon.
