Box Score 3 KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Sophomore southpaw Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.) got her fist career pitching victory as Alverno College defeated Wesley College (Del.) 15-6 in six innings today at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla.
The Inferno (1-7) lost to Bluffton University, 4-1, in the nightcap, and also to Waynesburg University, 14-6 in five innings, in a resumed game from Monday.
Versus Wesley (0-7), the Inferno pounded out 18 hits as eight of the nine batters connected for a hit in the victory. Bre Hart (Racine, Wis./Park) was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate and also had a walk and two RBIs.
Freshman outfielder Ashleigh Sagat (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) connected on a pair of hits, including a three-run triple to finish the game with a team-best four RBIs. Villalobos fanned five Wolverine batters and walked only one in her complete game victory from the circle, and helped her cause with a 3-for-5, two-RBI performance from the plate.
In the nightcap versus Bluffton (5-1), Villalobos pitched another complete game, but didn't get the run support for the Inferno victory. She had another five strikeouts, but was pinned for four earned runs in the loss.
The Inferno offense managed only four hits in the game, as Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) connected for a RBI-double down the leftfield line as she sent Sagat across the plate in the second inning for the only score by Alverno.
In the resumed game against Waynesburg University (2-4), Alverno had six runs off of six hits, but the Yellow Jackets were too much for Alverno's pitching tandem of Stephanie Klees (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) and Emily Snell (Denmark, Wis.), which tagged the Inferno pitchers for 14 runs off 13 hits in the five-inning contest.
Villalobos and Sagat each connected for two hits apiece to lead the Inferno bats.
Alverno returns to Milwaukee from its spring trip tomorrow, but are not back in action until Saturday, Mar. 26, when it hosts Lawrence University in a doubleheader at noon.
