Box Score 2 KISSIMMEE, Fla. -- Alverno College lost to Walsh University and Defiance College today at the Rebel Spring Games outside of Orlando.
The Inferno (0-4) lost to Wash -- a NCAA Division II provision member -- 10-1 in five innings in the first game of the day, and then 5-1 to Defiance.
After allowing an unearned run in the first inning, Stef Wilmore (Elkhart, Ind./Central) crossed the plate after a wild pitch by the Cavaliers (1-0) and tied the game at 1-1.
But the Cavaliers scored nine runs on seven hits over the next three innings to pull away with the victory.
Freshman Emily Snell (Denmark, Wis.) picked up loss in her first decision of the season, while Stephanie Klees (Sussex, Wis./Hamilton) also saw a couple innings of relief work.
In game two the Inferno got a solid outing from southpaw Jamie Villalobos (Antioch, Ill.), who fanned five batters and allowed five runs in her second complete game of the season, but was unable to convert with the bat with runners in scoring position. Alverno left nine on base throughout the game and outhit the Yellow Jackets (2-2) 10-9.
Roxanne Kresmer (South Milwaukee, Wis.) had the Inferno's lone RBI in the game as she knocked home Villalobos on a single to right-center field.
The Inferno get back to the field tomorrow as it takes on Emmanuel College (Mass.) at 3 p.m. and then Waynesburg University at 5 p.m.
