Box Score MILWAUKEE -- Alverno took visiting Wisconsin Lutheran to extra points in the second set, but were still unable to come away with a set victory in a 3-0 loss today at Reiman Gymnasium on the Inferno's homecoming weekend.
In the opening set the Warriors (13-9, 6-2 Northern Athletics Conference) blitzed the Inferno (3-20, 0-8) by connecting on .375 of their attacks, while the Inferno recorded a .000 attack percentage with six kills and six errors in the first set. The Warriors won the set 25-12.
In the second frame the Inferno led by as many as five, but the Warriors battled back to take the set into extra points with a 24-24 tie, and ended the set on a 6-3 rally for the 26-24 victory.
With the momentum gone, the Inferno then dropped the final set 25-15 for the 3-0 loss.
Morgan Stuckey (Duncanville, Texas) led the Inferno's offense with six kills on 18 attempts, and Reagan Owen (Salina, Kan./Central) had a match-high 10 digs to lead the defense.
The Inferno take a break from conference play as they host Cardinal Stritch on Wednesday night in a nonconference match at 7 p.m.
