Inferno swept in final day of WLC Invite

MILWAUKEE -- Alverno College was swept in its final two matches of the WLC Invite by Carroll University and host Wisconsin Lutheran College both by scores of 3-0 at the Recreation Complex in Milwaukee on Saturday.

In the early match Carroll held the Inferno (0-4) to just 24 total points, winning by scores of 25-7, 25-13 and 25-4.

Alverno tallied just eight total kills, led by freshmen Morgan Stuckey (Duncanville, Texas) and Kellee Laske (Milwaukee/Pius XI) with three each.

Stuckey led the defense with five digs and a block.

Against Wisconsin Lutheran, which won by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-23, three Inferno players had four kills to lead the offense including Stuckey, Chelsea Gulbronson (Milwaukee/Pius XI) and Jordan Nickelatti (Genoa, Wis./De Soto). Junior Ashley Graham (Cudahy, Wis.) had 14 assists.

Defensively Stuckey had a team-high 11 digs and two blocks (1 solo, 1 assist) and Gulbronson had nine digs and two blocks (1 solo, 1 assist).

The Inferno are next in action this Wednesday in their home-opener against Northland International University at 3 p.m. Alverno also hosts Lawrence University at 7 p.m. and the two visiting opponents play at 5 p.m. at Reiman Gymnasium.
