The Inferno (0-11) lost their first match of the day to Grace Bible College (Mich.) 3-0, and then took Northland International University the distance before falling 3-2 in the nightcap.
The Inferno rallied in the third set of Grace's straight-set victory (25-13, 25-22, 25-21), with nine service aces, but it wasn't enough for force a fourth set. Tasha Anderson (Waukesha, Wis./North)served five-straight aces in the third and Jordan Nickelatti (Genoa, Wis./De Soto) added four-straight for just one off of the team's season-high of 10 aces, set in their first match of the season versus Indiana University Northwest.

Alverno would battle to take the fourth set 25-22 and even the match up at 2-2 with the momentum in its favor. The Inferno looked like they would get their first win of 2010 leading by seven in the fifth and deciding set. However, their opponents had other plans and took the set and the match with a close 16-14 score.
Morgan Stuckey (Duncanville, Texas) led the Inferno offensive attack with season-high 12 kills in the match and Chelsea Gulbronson (Milwaukee/Pius XI) added nine kills and also two solo blocks on the defensive side of the net.
With the pair of losses Alverno ties Washington College (Md.) for the NCAA Division III record for consecutive matches lost at 59. The Inferno will attempt to end the skid tomorrow at 11 a.m. versus Great Lakes Christian College in the tournament's fifth-place match.
