CHICAGO -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches at the Moody Bible Institute Tournament, falling 3-0 to both Indiana Northwest University and host Moody on Friday evening.

The Inferno (0-15 overall) experienced difficulties with Indiana Northwest from the get-go, dropping the match 25-13, 25-22 and 25-18 as the squad was unable to find its rhythm on the court.

"It's a team we should have beaten, no question about that," said Alverno head coach Crystal McClure. "We played sloppy and weren't connecting at all."

The squad was able to up its game somewhat for its second consecutive match of the day against Moody, but still fell in three sets, 25-10, 25-14, 25-11.

"Moody had some strong hitters and their libero was able to cover the whole back row," McClure said. "We always play better against good teams, and we need to realize that we are capable of doing that no matter who we are playing in order to turn the corner this season."

Freshman middle blocker Rachel Diedrich (Two Rivers, Wis.) led the Inferno on offense in both contests, posting 11 kills out of 16 attempts against Indiana Northwest followed by an eight kill effort against Moody. Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Graham (Cudahy, Wis.) would lead the defense in the squad's first match with seven digs, while sophomore libero Kia Yang (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside) topped the digs column in the second match with 11.

Alverno will play one more match at the Moody Tournament tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. Opponent is still TBD.
