Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE -- The Alverno College softball team fell to Lakeland College, 15-0 and 20-1, in five innings apiece in a hard-hitting Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader that saw four home runs and a pair of grand slams on Alverno's home field on Tuesday.

The Inferno (2-13, 0-9 NAC) couldn't catch a break in either game, as the Muskies (17-5, 10-0 NAC) rattled off 11 hits in the first game and 13 in the second to Alverno's five hits total on the day.

After being shut out in the first game, senior catcher Rebecca Schmid (Tigerton) finally got the Inferno on the board in the bottom of the first inning. After reaching on a walk, Schmid was eventually driven home by a single off the bat of Andrea Spindler (Greendale). Junior pitcher Jessica Goetz (Milwaukee/Greendale Martin Luther) registered one hit in each game while Spindler added one more hit in the first game.

Goetz took the loss in the circle in both games, surrendering 11 hits while also retiring seven batters in five innings of work in the first game. Goetz went on to throw the first three innings of game two, allowing seven hits with two knock-outs, before she was relieved by Spindler. Spindler took the brunt of Lakeland's offense in the second game, enduring an 11-run fourth inning that included both grand slams.

The Inferno will look to get back on their feet as they travel to Marian University on Wednesday, April 15, to continue league play with another doubleheader. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. in Fond du Lac, Wis.
