Box Score AURORA, Ill. -- The Alverno College women's volleyball team dropped three-consecutive sets to host Aurora University tonight, falling to 0-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference.
The Inferno (2-14) stayed close with the Spartans (2-15, 1-3 NAC) in the first set before falling, 25-23. Alverno was then unable to hang with the host team in the second and third sets losing 25-8 and 25-13.
Senior middle blocker/outside hitter Rebecca Schmid (Tigerton, Wis.) led the Inferno's offense with six kills on 25 attacks. Schmid and freshman defensive specialist Mai Kaw Xiong (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside) each tallied five digs on the defensive side of the net.
Alverno will return to conference play this Friday, Oct. 3 as they host Concordia University Wisconsin (6-10, 1-1 NAC). The Inferno's homecoming match will begin at 6 p.m. in Milwaukee.
