Shawn Grimm was named the Head Softball Coach of the Alverno Inferno in August of 2025.
Grimm comes to Alverno after working last season as the Assistant Softball Coach at the University of Minnesota Morris. He was the team’s hitting coach for the 2025 season, responsible for planning, teaching, and implementing offensive schemes and strategies. Grimm also worked to break down game film and prepared the scouting reports prior to each game. He was instrumental in helping the team earn an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference playoff berth, as the team finished 9-9 in conference action.
Prior to coaching Minnesota-Morris, Grimm coached for softball for well over a decade in the state of Wisconsin, as he was the head varsity softball coach at Wauwatosa High School from January of 2022 to June of 2024 and was also the head softball coach at Waukesha North High School from March of 2011 to November of 2021. At Wauwatosa, he helped the team to their most successful season in four years, while compiling a 135-66 record in his time at Waukesha North.
Grimm also has been the Head 16u National Coach for the BATS/Velocity Softball team since August of 2012, helping numerous high school athletes achieve their goals and reach the next level of softball.
Grimm earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Mount Mercy College in December of 1996.
