Antonio Rivas was named Director of Athletics for Alverno College in July of 2025.
Rivas came to Alverno with eight years of collegiate athletics experience after most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academic Success, as well as Director of Men's Golf Operations, at a fellow Northern Athletic Collegiate Conference (NACC) institution, Dominican University.
While at Dominican, Rivas held many roles, including four seasons as the head women's basketball coach, three seasons as the head men's golf coach, and administrative responsibilities in athletic communications and contest and event management. He also oversaw the Hall of Fame and student-athlete awards ceremony. In his most recent role, Rivas was responsible for compliance and eligibility within the department and provided oversight on the department's academic support and graduate assistants.
In Rivas' seven seasons with the women's basketball program at Dominican, he helped the Stars to four straight NACC tournament appearances, including back-to-back appearances in his first two seasons as head coach. In his first season as head coach, the Stars qualified for the NACC tournament and finished third overall in scoring in the NACC, the third-highest scoring total in program history. The Stars had three members honored as all-conference members, and a fourth member earned the NACC Freshman of the Year award, the first to win the award in program history.
Rivas also served for three years as the head men's golf coach at Dominican, helping grow the Stars' program recruitment, including bringing in a class of five golfers each of his first two recruiting cycles. He took over as head coach in 2018 after serving as an assistant coach the previous year. The men's golf program qualified for three straight GCAA All-Academic Awards under his leadership, and he returned to guide the program in 2024 as Director of Men's Golf Operations.
During his time at Dominican, Rivas also served as an Athletic Communications Assistant, assisting with the promotion and publicizing of the department's 13 sports.
A graduate of Aurora University, Rivas spent four seasons with the Spartans’ women’s basketball team as a student assistant coach from 2013-2017, including the 2015-2016 season when the Spartans posted a 17-11 record, going 14-6 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) and playing in the conference tournament championship game.
