Mackenzie Mathies '20 finished her first season on the sideline with the Alverno basketball team following the 2020-21 season.
No stranger to the Inferno athletics program, Mathies was a five-sport athlete during her time in Milwaukee, including four-year stints with the basketball, golf, and softball programs. In addition, Mathies also saw time with the Inferno cross country, and soccer teams.
On the basketball court, Mathies is in elite company as just one of four 1,000-point scorers, and is third on the all-time scoring list with 1,175 career points in her 102 career games played. She is fourth all-time in points per game, averaging and 11.5 scoring average, while she is second all-time in minutes played. She is the program's all-time free throw percent leader, connecting on over 74% from the charity stripe; and also leads the program with 212 three-pointers made, nearly 90 more than second place on the all-time list.
Mathies currently serves as an elementary school teacher in southern Wisconsin. She was selected as Alverno's Athlete of the Year in 2019; and earned her Bachelors of Science in Education-Middle School, and Mathematics for Teachers with honors in May of 2020.
